Frequently asked Questions

In this exciting new program young adult participants (18-24 years) will move beyond being campers and work towards gaining their certification of completion of Camp Awakening’s Leaders-In-Training (LIT) program.

Throughout this six-week hybrid program (a combination of online and in-person) LIT’s will have the opportunity to gain confidence as a leader; share their experiences and learn from others; develop and practice skills such as advocacy, conflict resolution, and project management, as well as a host of other hard and soft skills.

Of particular benefit, LIT staff are able to serve as references for those who complete the program.

In addition to the leadership development sessions, LIT’s are also able to engage in all of the fun camp activities that Cedar Ridge Camp has to offer. This includes: kayaking, canoeing, sailing, swimming, horseback riding, archery, woodworking, arts & crafts, dance, drama, rock climbing and more!

The new LIT Program is Camp Awakening’s first hybrid program – a combination of online AND in-person programming – spanning 6 weeks.

This pilot leadership & life skills development program will be offered  to young adults 18-24 years beginning online the week of May 30th.  We are especially excited to return IN-PERSON to Cedar Ridge Camp on the shores of Lake Wannamaker from Sunday, June 26-Saturday, July 2, 2022.

The virtual component of the LIT program begins with weekly online meetings & workshops via Zoom. We will then meet in-person for a week at camp and participate in some of Cedar Ridge’s staff training sessions.  Additional workshops and a final group project will take place in July.

Camp Awakening is required to comply with the relevant recommendations and guidance documents of national, provincial, and local public health/public safety, and other government authorities, to reduce transmission of COVID-19.  As we look ahead, some expectations for the summer include:

  • Vaccination mandate for all staff and LITs
  • Reduced cabin/session capacity
  • We may be required to follow strict physical distancing, cohorting, masking and sanitizing protocols as per Public Health and
    Ontario Camps Association guidelines.

LIT fees for 2022 are $1,000

Camp Awakening’s LIT fees are all-inclusive.  There are no hidden or additional charges for lodging, meals, staff support, activities or programming (both online and in-person).

Financial Assistance

Unfortunately, there are limited funding options available to campers and participants over the age of 18.

However, Camp Awakening will support you in your efforts to secure any funding you find or create a payment/installment plan for you.
