Frequently asked Questions

Building on the success of last summer’s pilot hybrid (a combination of online and in-person) LIT Program, the updated and revised 2023 program will help young adult leaders-in-training move beyond being campers and learn new skills to help them develop and practice leadership in a variety of settings.

This program has three “phases” each of which builds towards a final project to raise funds and build awareness for Camp Awakening. Throughout the LIT Program and culminating in the final project, participants will have the opportunity to gain confidence; share their unique experiences and learn from others; develop and practice skills such as advocacy, conflict resolution, and project management; and make new friends.

Phase 1 begins at the end of May with two online meetings per week. During this time participants will get to know each other, discover what it means to be a leader, and begin the planning stages of their final project!

Phase 2 is the in-person portion of the program occurring at Cedar Ridge Camp near Bancroft from Sunday, June 25th to Saturday, July 1st. While at camp LITs will be able to enjoy spending time in nature and participate in traditional camp activities both on land and in the water. Along with this, the group will participate in a variety of leadership sessions run by Camp Awakening and continue working on their final project.

Phase 3 is the completion and execution of the final project and earning of the certification of completion of Camp Awakening’s Leaders-In-Training (LIT) program. Along with this, LITs will have gained a tool kit of both hard and soft skills that can be included on resumes and built on in future volunteer and work experiences.
