Plans are in motion to create a hybrid – a combination of virtual and in-person – Leaders-In-Training (LIT) program.
This pilot leadership & life skills development program will be offered year-round to young adults 19-24 years. We are especially excited to return IN-PERSON to Cedar Ridge Camp on the shore of Lake Wannamaker during the summer of 2022!
As the LIT program is developed, more information about the format and structure of the program, session dates & fees, etc. will be shared here. Keep checking back!
L.I.T session dates and fees for 2022 will be posted soon.
L.I.T stands for Leaders-In-Training. This brand-new virtual program is designed to be the perfect mixture of building leadership skills while having FUN!
Enrolling in this program (new for 2021!) will help you gain valuable leadership qualities that can be used at school, in future workplaces and in your broader community!
For summer 2021 we’re opening this virtual program to anyone 19-24 years of age with a physical disability – plus their friends and siblings in the same age range.
The LIT program runs for 5 weeks. The first two weeks are dedicated to group learning sessions and hands-on training where you will learn important skills such as program planning, giving and receiving feedback, how to work as a team and communication. The next two weeks will be spent applying your newfound knowledge as instructors in the Camp Awakening @ Home virtual program, working directly with campers aged 9-14 to lead them through online activities. During the final week, you will earn your HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Childhood Development certification and have the option to complete your Food Handler Certificate and/or WHMIS.
It’s been a tough year, so please know that we will not be turning away anyone who is eligible and interested in participating.
