Now in its 6th summer, Youth Week* is a one-week, co-ed summer camp and recreation retreat offered in partnership with March of Dimes Canada for young adults with physical disabilities 19-24 years of age.

Youth Week is focused on supporting and encouraging young adults with physical disabilities to enjoy outdoor recreational activities; live healthy, active lifestyles; and improve social skill development. Each year the schedule adapts to the interests of the participants and allows participants to create their own week long adventure.

Youth Week currently operates out of the YMCA Geneva Park Conference Centre in Orillia, ON.  We’re just one group at this large conference centre on the shores of Lake Couchiching hosting families on vacation; other organizations & social groups enjoying a recreation retreat; and a YMCA Day Camp!

Youth Week is comprised of 10-14 participants (including 2 Peer Mentors) and 4-6 support staff members.  Accommodation is in a 2-person shared hotel-style room with private ensuite.  Participants are paired with another participant of the same gender.  Support Staff are housed separately, but can be reached by phone at all times.

*Introduced in 2012 as the Youth Leadership Development (YLD) Retreat, the program name was changed in 2017 to better align with March of Dimes Canada's Summer Recreation Program and to better reflect the changing structure of the week with less of a focus on learning sessions & leadership workshops, and more time spent on outdoor recreation and campy fun!
