For young adults 19-24 years
The Youth Leadership Development Retreat (known as 'YLD' because everything at camp needs a nickname!) is a unique combination of summer camp activities and leadership development sessions.
Frequently asked Questions
The YLD Retreat is focused on supporting and encouraging young adults with physical disabilities to enjoy outdoor recreational activities; live healthy, active lifestyles; and improve skill development.
Each day, participants partake in engaging and interactive sessions with the goal of helping them increase independence; build self-confidence; make new friends; learn new skills; and set goals for the future. We want to ensure that the sessions that we lead are beneficial and therefore we always ask the participants what kinds of leadership skills they want to learn. We are excited for the participants to help us develop the program each year in a ‘choose your own adventure’ style.
In addition to the leadership development sessions, YLD Retreat participants are also able to engage in all of the fun camp activities that Cedar Ridge Camp has to offer. This includes: kayaking, canoeing, sailing, swimming, horseback riding, archery, woodworking, arts & crafts, dance, drama, rock climbing and more! We also try to offer a day or overnight canoe trip.
The YLD Retreat is hosted by Cedar Ridge Camp located near Bancroft, Ontario.
